In my early days, I helped open bars and nightclubs as a manager and promoter. While I loved the hustle and bustle of being a part of new properties, I was also curious about the history, lore, and construction of world-class cocktails. After traveling widely and helping open establishments from Iowa’s prairies to California’s coasts, I decided to find new ways to incorporate regenerative practices, culinary methodologies, and forward-looking trends into original experiences. My passion for mixology and gastronomy was reflected in cocktail menus that invite guests to try unique and inviting pairings of artisanal spirits.

In 2018, I became a part of Hy-Vee, Inc.’s Helpful Smiles TV lineup as a solo, namesake show, The Beard Behind The Bar, and in 2022, The Beard Behind The Bar: Celebrity Edition. The Beard Behind the Bar has won an AMA Webisode Series award. 

In early 2022, I won Thirsty Magazine x Reyka Vodka’s running challenge, and in September of that year, I joined William Grant & Sons as a U.S. Brand Ambassador for Reyka Vodka, representing the brand and promoting Icelandic vodka across various media, activations, and events.
